“When I think back to my high school years, I always held a certain admiration towards touring rock bands of the 1970s and 80s. The spontaneity of a live performance... a band’s ability to draw people in musically.

Being a professional disc jockey, I’m faced with the realization that I perform with prerecorded music. Taking this into consideration, I push myself by keeping my performances as closely as possible to that of a live band by utilizing more of today’s technology... by utilizing more of today’s advanced disc jockey techniques.

Whether I’m playing a (classic rock) set in St. Albans, (newer country) in Newport or (urban/rap) in Burlington, I always take pride in my mixing abilities. When the dance floor is full, a cappella introductions to many songs that are so common in clearing a dance floor are professionally cued over, leaving me with the tightest mix possible. I will nudge the tempo a bit when playing an upbeat set. This tends to create more energy on the dance floor, causing more people to dance for longer periods of time. Eventually, as people begin to tire, I will usually throw in a 2-3 song slow set.

There is something about the chemistry between a disc jockey and a group of eager people, all waiting... looking to have a good time. There is an interchange of energy... it’s something that I can not put into words but I will say this... I’m hooked for life in what I do.”

Pioneer Professional has been Live Wire Systems’ choice in compact disc players ever since Pioneer first introduced their professional line in 1997.

What influenced our decision in choosing Pioneer Professional over other brands of professional audio?

When Pioneer first introduced their professional line of (CDJ Series) compact disc players, they shook the DJ industry with two major developments. Before discussing these two developments, we should lay a little groundwork as far as the basics are concerned regarding professional compact disc player technology.

Professional compact disc players have a feature called “pitch control”. This feature allows the disc jockey to speed up or slow down the music much like a record on a turntable. The only drawback with pitch control is that tones get altered when a song’s speed is altered.

Pioneer developed a technology called “Master Tempo”. This development digitally locks in a song’s tone, even when speeds are altered. The benefits of “Master Tempo” can take a disc jockey’s performance to the next level. Here’s a good example...

...You’re at an event and the disc jockey is currently playing an upbeat (classic rock set). The dance floor is full and the disc jockey
is approached by an individual who wants to hear “Eagles - Hotel California”. This request is an almost guarantee that the dance floor will clear when the song is eventually played simply because “Eagles - Hotel California” is not a very danceable song.

With “Master Tempo” the disc jockey could conclude their upbeat (classic rock set) and proceed into a (slow song set) by presenting “Eagles - Hotel California” as a slow song simply by engaging “Master Tempo” and slowing the song down.

Have you ever attended an event where people actually slow danced to Eagles - Hotel California? If so- chances are, you attended an event performed by Live Wire Systems...

Pioneer also developed another type of technology called (seamless looping). “Seamless looping” allows the disc jockey to take a portion of a song’s contents that has a steady beat to it and electronically
“loop it”. When done with precision, these “looped” beats can be extended, undetected by a crowd of listeners, allowing the disc jockey to have musical diversity much like a live band would when performing in front of a crowd.

Featured to the upper left are photos from one of our older Pioneer "dual drawer" DJ consoles. We’ve also featured one of our "table top" CD players... Pioneer Professional’s CDJ-700S.

Live Wire Systems only uses Pioneer Professional compact disc players because Pioneer has been among the leaders in professional compact disc player technology since 1997.

Keeping current with today’s top-40 hits is nearly impossible without the aid of a promotional music provider. Live Wire Systems has chosen one of America’s leading subscriber-based music services as a primary source in doing so.

By law... we are not allowed to publically disclose this source.

On January 19, 2006, Live Wire Systems was required to file a “subscriber agreement” form as a condition in continuing with this service... and we declined. By filing this subscriber agreement form, Live Wire Systems would have waivered ownership rights to all promotional musical material obtained from this service.

The links to the upper left contain more than a decade of compiled top-100 hits, categorized by both artist and song title alphabetically. All songs are radio “clean” edited and FCC-compliant, dating back to the 1990s. Live Wire Systems legally obtained this music... which has become “a permanent part of our company library.”

Some of our disc jockeys have “independently subscribed” to this promotional music service on a “lease only basis... as this service no longer sells promotional material to it’s subscribers, they only lend.”

All promotional musical material released after March 01, 2006 has been separately categorized under the “leased" section of our Mainstream Radio top-40 listings. All songs are categorized by release date.
